TEEX has been providing unsurpassed fire training for emergency responders since 1929, when the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas selected Texas A&M University as the site for a permanent firefighter training school. Today, TEEX trains more than 70,000 emergency responders from all 50 states and 40 countries each year.

The Texas Forest Service was created in 1915 by the 34th Legislature as an integral part of The Texas A&M University System. It is mandated by law to "assume direction of all forest interests and all matters pertaining to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state."Today the Texas Forest Service has more than 354 employees in offices across the state at various locations.

The SFFMA is the ninth largest trade association in Texas. The 129 year old organization is the oldest and the largest fire service association in the state. Membership includes 1100 fire departments, 18,000 individual members, and over 70 industrial fire brigades. The cornerstone of the organization is the Certification Program for volunteer firefighters, which encourages training, education and certification for all volunteers.
